NEWS Zenith & Westime Jeweller's new Pilot Extra Special in Titanium, Bronze & Blue!

 

Joining forces with Californian Jeweller Westime, Zenith has presented a limited edition (25 pieces) of its iconic aviators watch, the Heritage Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Westime Edition, a steampunk delight framing an intense blue dial in a vintage case made of bronze and titanium:



The choice of the material for the 45mm case is not owed to fashion alone, but has functional reasons as well. Bronze is a highly anti-magnetic alloy that acquires a natural patina giving it a unique vintage touch. A bezel crafted from brushed titanium separates and at the same time emphasises the deep blue colour of a matte finished dial, punctuated by large luminescent white numerals cut from solid SuperLuminova SLN C3 as well as gold-plated and luminous hands.

The Zenith Pilot Westime comes with a solid titanium case back, in its ‘house-style’ engraved with a depiction of the plane flown by Louis Blériot, who crossed the Channel in 1909 with his Zenith watch strapped to his wrist and guided by Zenith onboard instruments. The case side is adorned with the Pilot’s distinctive nameplate, engraved with the inscription “California, XX/25”.




Technically, may will be delighted to know that Zenith has opted to equip this watch with its proven in-house automatic movement Zenith Elite Calibre 679 offering central hours, minutes and seconds functions, while delivering a 50-hour power reserve.

For a perfect steampunk touch in many situations, Westime has chosen two different straps reflecting the watch’s personality: one blue calfskin strap with and one NATO version made of a chestnut brown distressed leather, both with white stitching and a titanium pin buckle.

I have to say: puh, that's a difficutl one to resist - really masculine, vintage, for the more robust gentleman. Superb and original combination of materials. Congratulations Westime and Zenith!
