Patek Philippe

Education required - help me appreciate Cal 324

I'm slowly fallign back in love with my Calatrava, mostly because of the stunningly beautiful movement.

I do however like to know what it is I'm looking at.  I can identify the balance, escape, fourth and third wheels along with the ratchet click but that's about it.

The movement has several inspection holes but I don't know what it is they're there to inspect.  I can see a nice black-polished disc which I believe is a sort of sliding clutch to engage  / disengage the manual and auto winding but I'm not too sure.

Is there an exploded diagram of the movement anywhere?  I couldn't find anything on a web search or this forum.  As it forms the base for so many of the more complicated movements I'd have thought there's something out there?

Perhaps there's info on a similar movement design?
