Patek Philippe

5040 & 5055

Hi,

I have been searching the archives for information regarding the 5040. Basically, the general concensus is that it is rarer than the 3940, and that if Breguet numerals and hands are your thing, its a stunning perpetual.

Any owners out there, would you be willing to comment as to the legibility of the dial and hands in different types of lighting? I have handeled the 3940 and have found it to have better legibility than many other jam-packed sub dial perpetuals. Is the 5040 similar?

Can anyone comment as to the robustness of the movement? Are there any "ghosts" which might appear with this watch? Winding issues with the micro-rotor?

I have always been facinated by the 240 caliber with micro-rotor. I happen to like the PP version visually better than the Lange offering. I have also always liked the 5055 Patek as well but I feel that if I am really going to get one, make it really count . If you have any comments to add regarding the 5055 they would be appreciated as well.

Thank you for your insight.

Best regards,

asg
