is that if i remember well i have read (here?) that the spring bars at least supplied with Patek should be of the same metal (or a "softer" one) compared to the watch casing ..  So probably the original ones are either in gold or plat not to damage the casing ...

On recent PP they fit them with quick release spring bars which are easy to remove.

It is easy to damage the case. I do it on my 5960A, for that I use a Spring Bar Plier Remover that allows to un-pin both sides of the spring bar at the same time. See picture attached. With that tool it becomes much easier. ...

You may find good options on Ebay, it is not an expensive tool.
