Ostrich is simply great

 By: dr.kol : April 22nd, 2012-05:46
on a modest and simple watch! I ordered an ostrich strap with wrong measurements. So I decided to give it to the first member who needs such a strap. Now the strap has been "sold". After receiving the wrong strap I ordered a new one with right measurement...

No , I am not!

However, what most of us do not really understand is that the elephants are a real problem in some parts of Africa. I.e. most of the Kruger Park trees are partly destroyed and it takes hundreds of years before they are growing back. In Zimbabwe there are ...

Not too convincing!

Say what you will.... right or wrong isanother discussion...... but I believe that the hunter loves the kill. That is the primary motivation.

With all respect:

I don't agree. I enjoy the nature and I enjoy all kinds of animals. I.e. in our household we have 7 pets. I have hunted most of my adult life and I have hunted really a lot. But I have never enjoyed killing. The problem is that the human living in urban a...

Sorry as I possibly initiated the off topic discussion. Please read

Hi, Sorry as I possibly initiated the off topic subject. I'm guilty! We will please avoid to develop this discussion as it is not really Patek Philippe oriented! Best Dje

Thank you, I agree!

I will just send some pictures of the safari and the animals in another forum. In order to get good photos, we will track the animals but without intentions to kill the same. Best regards, Kari

Just today a hungry brown bear (Ursus Arctos) has been spotted by tens of people in the city centre of Tallinn. The bear is estimated to be around 150 kg meaning that it's probably a three years old male or then a female without cups. This time of the yea...

With ostrich the watch is having a very modest, even cheap look. At the same time with shiny black crocodile it's a real dress watch. Best, Kari

Not convinced by the combo...

Not my taste... I think that Alligator is the best option for this kind of watch. Thanks a lot for the pics! Fx

I agree!

At the same time I enjoy the playing: with the change of the strap it's possible to convert a classic dress watch to something else. Anyhow, I would not have the guts to put a nato to 5196. Best, Kari

I think thats a superb combo...love it! [nt]

in the lounge in Munich airport. The combo is on my wrist and the pool watch (5167-1A) in the bag. I bought a similar strap for my 5124G and will fix it soon. Together with the salmon dial the strap might look very nice. I'll post some pictures later. Nic...

Leather straps are not good for safari.

 By: jimjenkins : April 28th, 2012-11:45
Unless you have a totally non-sweating wrist or spend your entire safari in an air conditioned jeep and quarters, you will mess up the leather strap in the heat and humidity of the African safari. Even in a dry desert, your skin will emit water vapor and ...

Thanks Jim,

I like the patina i.e. an ostrich strap is getting from sweat. The problem with metal straps is that they glitter and sometimes work nearly like mirrors. Most PHs wear a tennis band on top of the watch. That is sucking the sweat, prevent damages and glitt...

You are right..
