I must say that I had a similar experience when recently viewing a PP5035P at a dealer. The watch was great but it was presented in a compact looking leather covered Patek box.
With the help of this forum and internet pics, the 5035P apparently should have been presented in a larger polished wooden box. The dealer subsequently admitted there was a box switch and is sourcing the right presentation prior to my second viewing.
While this doesn’t answer the question about your particular model, some box switching does seem to take place at some dealers.
