A question of 'skins' and 'species'......

Jun 15, 2021,06:36 AM

For the last five years in Australia....we have been unable to import alligator or crocodile skin watch straps due to the Australian Government's classification of these as 'endangered species'.
Previous to this....I had regularly imported alligator straps for my Patek Ref 1491 from Camille Fournet in France.

Despite the large population of both native crocodiles and alligators in our North.....we can only chose 'Ostrich' if we want a 'skin' other than leather.
So I discovered a local strap maker who offers these rather beautiful Ostrich skins 'made to measure'......

Which do you like best......?

Thanks for the feedback guys and the compliments on the watch.... Made in 1952 so next year is a big birthday... and I love it, particularly for the lugs. And the red strap is my choice also and the one I bought initially. The dark strap is actually a dee...

The burgundy for me. The grey is also nice!
