With the circular hour hand, I find the time on my 5130 is very easy to discern at a glance.

Dilemma

Dear all forum participants: I will have a chance to purchase a Lange Dato RG/Black Dial or a PP 5110p at a nice price. I can't buy both because I can't afford both at the same time. I like the Dato because it is an icon from the House of A Lange. I also ...

Please...

5110P

 By: lobo : June 8th, 2010-17:45
5130P DOES NOT have a PREMIUM over 5110P. The only reason there is a different in price is because Patek increases their list price year on year (most years), and when they launched the 5130P after discontinuing the 5110P, the price increased, in line wit...

Thanks Lobo ...

I am not referring to the list. I am referring what is being sold in the market. One has to pay more for a pre-owned 5130p compared to a pre-owned 5110p. I do buy your logic about the list price increase if I am buying brand new from an AD and these ADs a...

Such different watches

 By: efftee : June 8th, 2010-19:45
I don't think you are able to choose between them based on others' rationalization -- they are completely different timepieces. You'll probably have to stick them on your wrist and see which one is harder to remove. If it's any consolation, either would b...

I am not the best person to give you an advice...

As I own both of them... You said all about these 2 watches, and nobody else than you can make the final choice. I'd say the 5110 P over the Dato, even if I love a lot this last one. Why? Simple. I'm a sucker for WT watches. A Chrono fan would tell you " ...

Thanks amanico ...

I meant the 5130p commands a premium (more expensive) than the 5110p in the resale market and I can't understand why. They are essentially the same watch with some minor design differences like larger size, different hands, different dial design, etc. The...

5110 v 5130

 By: lobo : June 10th, 2010-15:33
i understnd what you are saying now. However, if you think of the resale market, the 'premium' which the 5130 has over the 5110 is purely because the 5130 is a newer model, so, the 2nd hand market would make it seem it is more 'expensive'. But to think it...

Hi Lobo: I don't get your last sentence ...

Could you clarify more. Thanks.

I love both, but would choose the 5110P

 By: lifebreath : June 16th, 2010-19:14
Not exactly the same, but I owned the WG 1815 Chrono and the WG 5130G simultaneously. When one had to go, it was the Lange. The Patek Worldtimer is simply compelling. I loved the manually wound 1815, the dial and hands, the heft - and having tried on the ...

Personal experience with 5110.

 By: jimjenkins : June 16th, 2010-20:55
I own a pp5110G for some time but dont use it anymore. It is a gorgeous but awkward watch for daily use. The primary reason is the hr and min hands are too similar in size and shape. Thus it can be difficult to discern, for example, whether it is 10 min a...
