5107 vs. 5127 Question

I'm a newbie to the Patek universe, and wonder if someone would be willing to explain the difference(s) between these two PP's? Also, anyone have any thoughts they would be willing to share on the 5107p? Based upon the pictures I've seen, it looks stunning. It seems to command quite a premium. Is it normal for a platinum model to command that much more than the gold models?
