"caps" on the column wheel in 5070? Why?
It looks like that the 5070 is a hot topic here these days. Just want to extend it a little bit longer 
Actually, I can replace 5070 in the title with 3970/5970/5004 or PP chrono in general (even vintage).
Just wondering why there is a "cap" on top of the column wheel? It looks like that it is unique to PP. Is it just for decoration? I guess not but what's its function?
