but the question is another one : I have noticed you got really clean SD examples that fits very well in your " non-orientated " and " multitasking " collection.
so sell them to buy what ??
another f... ing chronograph ??? no please !
a cool milsub ? it seems they don't impress you so much ( to say the least )
another BC ?? at the same level of your 6200 ...the only one would be a 6538 with explorer dial if not a military 6538 ( just a little bit more expensive than a milsub )
but wait a minute .. I have just found the perfect solution for you !! ... a Comex 5514 " big number " with matt logo dial ....and still with valve !!
( I have intentionally " forgotten " Milgauss 6541- 6543 as they , altough quite rare , are just like a JB small crown with honeycomb dial ... LOL LOL LOL )

......You are right, my SDs are very clean. But, who needs 3 Patent Pendings? (LoL). One would be fine. And you are right, what could i possibly add to surpass my 6200? Another 3-6-9 dial? Why? Not needed...i have a 3-6-9 dial!!! Milsub? Well, plausibly, but that would not be a direction my collection has taken...

.....losing 2 of the three patent pendings would be plausible...i still end with one PP. Losing the next one is trickier......i know i am a heathen, but once i heard that there were only 400-600 Rail Dials made, my attraction to it rose!! LoL. Howe many of those 400-600 still with B&P? Uhm....so few. 

After you can choose between the Triple 6, which is very you, too, and the Rail.... But I suspect the Triple 6 gives you even more pleasure....

So, you see, things can go fast!

...about the Milgauss generally....whichever version actually. It is a powerful watch.

I think its obvious that this is my opinion. I am not THE absolutely authority on Rolex in the world so of course there are other opinions.  I am just one of many opinions.

I don't think it is obvious at all. When one states personal opinions as seeming fact, then it comes across slightly differently. 

As you a moderator you can write like that if you like. Be politically correct.

Thank you for starting such a great thread.  Reading from top to bottom, all the contributions were very throughtful and a very cool read for an amateur like myself.

It is very interesting to see that you are tending toward "less is more".  Though I only own 2 watches - hardly a collection with a 16600 and a 1665 GW (plus my father's Red Sub) - I have only worn the 16600 for the past 4 months... and it has been the best 4 months of watch wearing since I got an interest in watches 7 yrs ago.  I am really loving having just one watch and wearing it everywhere at all times and in all environments - never taking it off and buiilding so many memories with it.  For me, that is really the fun of owning a watch.

Now, granted, I am not a collector and have nowhere near the watches that many of the frequent posters here have, but I have come to realize that less is more.  There is something special about having a very small core of watches that see a lot of wrist time and thus build so many memories with you and live your life with you.  It is a lot of fun.

In light of this, I will likely soon be letting my 1665 go.  It just isn't getting the wrist time that such an iconic watch deserves so it needs to go to a better home.  I'm not even sure I will replace it.  I do think that an iconic classic to wear on the weekends would be nice, and with an unlimited budget a 5512 gilt or a 7924 would be great, but sometimes I wonder if I would even pull the trigger on those even with unlimited means as I just love my 16600 so much.

I look forward to seeing how 2015 goes for you.  Three PP DRSDs!  What a lucky man!  And as a die hard SD fanatic, your entire SD collection is truly mind boggling.  You are sitting in a great spot with such a great collection and you can't go wrong no matter what you decide in 2015.

.. Hmmm... Rolex collecting : I'm still not sure, if I am a real collector, but
definitely a lover of Rolex watches, several moderns accumulated over the years,

In addition to my good old " life"- Rolex-Date from the mid 70ies, and the Milgauss GV,
which I still like a lot, this year's change brought the addition of 1 modern:
similiar to our esteemed Mod here, I decided for the 116710 BLNR, The " Bruiser".
I am really very happy with that choice; actually now this one is my fav modern, followed by
the Milgauss..

As I got interested and encouraged by several friends, also here ( you know, who you are !),
I took some intial steps into the Vintage terroir:
- first the addition of a nice 1675, from 1972, my no- nonsense, happy and colorful choice !


( this augmented my 1680 SR, and my 5513 Subs, which were brought per 2013..)

My next find was indeed luck and coincidence : I found another beautiful
Vintage 1675, year 1960,a piece which I truly love
( with gilt, CR, PCG and exclamation mark,.

For quite some years I had been looking for a decent Explorer, and also this hour came,
this year, after the summer:
- one good friend, knowing my interests, had tipped me off, with the availability of a
really beauiful Explorer/ gilt with CR, from 1956 in an astounding condition.
. - Taking alltogether, this one, or maybe the last 2 to me were the most significant

- Also I realize, that I do have a certain slight preference with GMTs..

I guess, I 'll stop here, but just by saying, my main collection interests still are with JLC, Rolex
meanwhile being a strong no. 2, finally with some nice "satellites" such as
by Breguet, Omega , GP;

Also I'll spare you my acquisitions from the JLC- camp - guess, these might come in another post
- Nevertheless, having said so, I realize, that this year my ad- ons in Rolex equalled those with
JLC,.

So, what am I ? .. Still pretty much on the beginning within the Vintage Rolex abyss, but I also
would say, that I have extracted lots of joy from that field and learned quite a bit.

For that I am grateful to you all here,giving life & spirit to that forum, and to some very special friends,
for their kindness, also for their advice & encouragement, allowing me
to " peek over their shoulders".
