You could be right but it would be somewhat of a Franken?

I've always been eyeing the Sea Dweller but due to the large size of the previous DSSD, I never considered buying one..now, the 40 mm SD will most likely be the next purchase..i had a feeling Rolex would come out with either a ceramic Pepsi or Coke GMT based on what they came out with last year..just a matter of the evolutionary process of Rolex..i'm a little disappointed they didn't come out with a SS ceramic Daytona...maybe next year

As for the SD, yes, I think it is a very smart offer from Rolex.

Putting a 2 tone bezel on the GMT. That's a great pice of news and a very attractive one (even if the white gold price threshold will be harder to reach).

The Cellini, on this picture, seems lovely, quite pure and elegant. an interesting offer.

The Sea Dweller, as I said to Joe, is my favorite Sub-like version.

I'm really happy to see many of these novelties, a very good year for me and eager to see the "in the metal" pics!

As for the Two tone matter, I didn't express my thoughts correctly, I meant two colors o.c., the black not being a problem together with another color, but being a real issue otherwise (at the time).

I have to say that Rolex really failed to dazzle me with this years releases.  They only released three Oyster models that normal Rolex lovers might buy.  All three are slightly updated versions of older models (a new Cerachrome Bezel for the GMT, an updated Sea Dweller (the nicest example of the year), and a new dial for the Milgauss).  I think Rolex needs to re-think this strategy and I think Rolex should take a cue from its little brother Tudor by releasing heritage models.   All in all I wouldn't buy any of these models and it is very disappointing! 

Rolex is being so innovative that there is no point issuing heritage models...

When they don't, it is the same outcome.

Rolex is clearly not thinking about visiting the past, Tudir is here for that and Tudor does a superb job, I must say...

But I agree that Cellini apart, ther is no ture novelty this year.

At the very least Rolex should have some surprises every year.  Although I didn't like the Skydweller and would never buy it, but it was a surprise when it was released.  This year I don't think there is anything I would ever buy and there is certainly nothing that is a nice surprise.  I am not saying they have to go back but I think they could do new models based on there heritage.  For example who wouldn't love an updated Paul Newman type stainless Daytona?  They just are failing to dazzle this year and last year.  It seems to me that they are not being creative enough and moving at a snails pace.

As a general point, I understand your opinion. On the other hand, the pepsi dial GMT is what vintage lovers have been calling for from Rolex for a number of years...and this year Rolex deliver exactly that...a tribute to the vintage Pepsi GMT. Rolex is a brand that is not really about super complications. It aims to do some things extremely well, but that does not include providing greater and greater complications. It leaves that field to Patek and JLC etc. Rolex is about something different. I am not sure its fair to criticise them for failing to deliver on that front....though I am not sure you are criticising them for that. Equally, with this GMT, they are paying direct tribute to a historic icon. They even state as much in their marketing. On this score, I am not sure its fair to criticise.

Daydates on a leather strap are not classic as they show their original purpose as a bracelet watch.

Cellinis are more convincing.

As someone mentioned before: looks like the DS has a less squared case again, which would be nice.

Love the new SD..too bad the GMT is in WG and I have a feeling the red/blue will probably never make it down to the SS..kinnda like the Smurf Sub..
