I just found a minty JLC Chronometre that looks like no other I have seen. Will take some images however its got the look of a rectangular Ulysee Nardin or a Patek Nautilus Quartz!. Its automatic ca 906, 21 J , 5 adj. and has ref. 24001-42
Anyone have some more info on this model?... Thanks Brian
Thanks your help.. Guess I have a rare bird !¨The case back definitely has 24001-42 and serial 1400293..

... all of the JLC Chronometer models made through the 24000-42 models in the mid 1970's.
No mention is made in the article of the 24001-42, but it seems plausible to me that such a style would exist with the same caliber as the 24000-42. One would need to make an inquiry to JLC to confirm this for sure. This looks like a very rare watch indeed!
Here are some larger pictures from the original poster's Photobucket account:
I wonder what the Manufacture will say?
Hope this helps,

... at another forum dedicated to Jaeger LeCoultre watches. Here is the written description:
"Jaeger Le Coultre signed, high grade,2210657 Jaeger Le Coultre chronometer automatic : Case...ref 24001.42 #1400155,stainless steel, 3 piece, large octagon shape, TV shape bezel, screw down back with chronometer & logo, central lugs, flat glass crystal, Le Coultre signed, 36mmX42mm, Dial… Black, painted baton index, baton gold hands, Jaeger Le Coultre signed, Movement... cal 906, #2210657 rotor winding, rhodium colored, 21jwl,adjusted to 5 position"
The case and serial number are very close to the above example. And the description is dead-on.
More than one is always good.
Take care,
