You emailed me and I answered you that I don't know BH 90210. I also answered you that I had nothing to say about his post i.e. the fact that he asked such question that I can understand as making sense, maybe not for you, but at least for him and seemingly others too.

We're not hunting here! If you have facts we can hear them. If not what's the problem?

I sent one to you, as a moderator....I would be happy to clarify by PM.....

What I said to BH 90210 was in the open and very polite... please check my post...
I have always been very polite to al the purists and please check my posts....
However I do not appreciate for appreciate BH 90210 describing my commends as "silly".....

I feel that I am being called for braking some sort of conduct rules...

I respect you as a moderator, and you set the rules......
Thus I will stop posting in this forum as I do not wish to break any further rules or insult anybody else.....

Let me be specific:

A. I never sent a PM to the originator of this thread.....

I only sent PM to people that I know or moderators.....

if the originator of the post claims that (which he does) he is lying......

as a moderator you can check that... or he can sent us a copy of the said e-mail......

B. The PM was sent to you Dje....

C. BH 90210 has posted ads to dale on regarding new watches, eg 5970P in new condition


also 5712 in new condition.... usually when a collector buys a watch he wears it.....


there were other ones that he has placed in CM....


I thus asked politely if he is a dealer or not.... very politely and with apologies if he wasn't......


if someone asked me... I would reply... moderators have done similar statements about affiliations etc......

D. Suddenly lac2s writes a follow up commend on the post by BH 90210 ,lying again that I sent him a PM ( which I never did).


Realizing his mistake he quickly edits his post.... if you do not have his original unedited post I would be happy to forward it


to you if you provide me your e-mail address..... by the way he lists several watches for sale and he recently had posted


a thread about a stolen watch that he sold, and he re-bought again within a couple of weeks.....

I hope that this clarifies things....

There is now reason to believe that there are persons in this thread who are also using multiple log in ID's.

To all, I ask a question, and make a polite request -

The question itself - the original post - was it shilling?

Request - obviously if one person is using two log in ID's to participate even in the same thread, that is problematic and of course raises red flags.

If there is reason to suspect any "untoward" conduct in this forum (or any PuristSPro forum) please forward ALL details that lead you to this suspicion.

It helps us "police" this site very much (no easy task!) and keep our standards high, for the benefit of all visitors.

And to those that want to play games - please stop.

On the other hand, if the original post was not a shill, I would humbly request -

a. please still bring the facts of the situation to our attention, by private email or PM, so we can keep a watchful eye

b. if there is no direct violation of a terms of service (TOS) then publically go on as though the question was asked in good faith.  Afterall, wasn't the original question a fair and valid one for any true enthusiast or collector to ask of fellow enthusiasts/collectors?

Isn't that what we are all here for, to share information, experiences, and opinions?

Why not pretend that he IS a legitimate potential buyer asking a sincere question(s) - what would that hurt?

I don't see any indications that even if the OP was pulling your chains, he is doing it maliciously, and on the possibility that his questions are sincere, isn't that what we are here for?

And even if his questions aren't sincere, shouldn't we thank him anyway for giving us a chance to play "what if?" to our hearts content?

I'm just a little confused by the carpet flipping detective work shown in this thread.

Believe me, I remember the infamous threads in other forums over the past 12 years, someone who "magnanimously" talked down to everyone when he got the 5016 and "encouraged everyone that if they worked hard enough, they too might some day be able to afford their own masterpiece."

(that was a real hoot, real or fake) but I don't see any evidence of that here, so what the heck?!?

state to all posters on this thread that they are taking giving their opinions too seriously. No one is giving away the store. I have PM'ed BH90210 and his replies were very kind and honest.

I don't like bad feelings or tension; that's not what this site is for.

The fact is, there are people who want to abuse our forum or not follow our rules.

And when found out, we should deal with them simply and quickly.

But in the absence of unequivocal bad faith, I'd rather give people the benefit of the doubt.

And unless I am missing something (which I could very well be) I don't see enough evidence of bad faith to jump to the conclusion to even ask the question.

Personally, when I walk into a store, I don't want to be asked, "are you a serious buyer, sir?"

Whether I am or not, I turn around and walk out.

Unless there is a reason not to, why not give people the benefit of the doubt?

That's how I want this community to be.

I've followed this thread from the very beginning, and never saw a reason to doubt the OP motives for buying any of these watches. I happen to agree with him 100 percent about the new split second perpetual having a very sporty look to it which is a bit out of character for PP. I've never really understood why people will say things on the net that they would not say at a dinner party. If this gentleman asked this same question at a watch gathering would be asked the same questions and receive the same accusations?

To the OP, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these choices. I've handled the 5074 and 5016. They are both very special watches. If It were my money I would take the 5074, 5016, in that order.

this is quite a thread that has developed. what sticks out in my mind is the "security measure" that Patek has taken to ensure that only worthy collectors are able to purchase their grand complication watches and hopefully will not flip them soon after delivery. therefore the OP will need to go through this application process and be judged by Mr. Stern. OR if the OP is a huge Patek fan but first time buyer, he may need to seek the assistance of the secondary market for this acquisition which will inflate the prices based on supply/demand. Turning to the more cynical "grey market dealer as OP" view, it would probably be rather difficult for a grey market dealer to purchase these types of watches on the secondary market and STILL turn a profit on re-sale.

Based on my personal experiences, I was able to handle a 5016P a few months ago. It is a remarkable watch and what surprised me the most was its height. Yes I know all the complications that it has but it is still a rather thick watch. Another aspect of the 5016P that surprised me was its case diameter of "only" 37mm. I was expecting a larger watch in the 39mm range due to all the visible complications. Granted the 37mm choice for this Grand Complication may be further strength to the statement that Patek will not blindly follow the current trends of bigger is better (45mm+ watches)!

If one thing I learned from this thread it is the variety and depth of the catalog of Patek. As a "poor" salaryman I never had much attention for Patek's high priced complications.
But BH's question gave me the impulse to study Patek's chronographs and made me admire Patek's design abilities. There is one for every taste. I myself was particularly touched by the elegance and the timeless beauty of the 5950. What a triumph in design this watch is. In my opinion, of course!
