But the 5100 might be “the real deal”, I understand that.
I have seen both (5100 & 5500) in real life. I had a chance to buy a 5100 WG/blue dial. BUT...
the 5100 is one of those watches that did not appeal to me when it was on my wrist. I tried hard to like it.
In the end, I decided no, not for me. I definitely buy based on the looks/designs of the watches and not the movements. As long as it runs well with what is inside, I am fine.
Of course, I should have bought the 5100, seeing how much it has evaluated since
I said, "No". But I buy for looks and satisfaction. Why have a watch that doesn't appeal?
If you ever have a chance, do see both in person.
On the other hand, that "quirky" (ha ha) 5500 Pagoda in YG and RG did and does still appeal to me.
I think so because its "feet" are so unique and it is a good size too. Maybe it will be in my collection one day.

The one which sings the most with you, that's the most important. What I really liked with the 5100 was its original case shape. I agree that the 5500 is the easiest, but the quirkiness of the 5100 sang very loud to me. ;)

It is a strange creature
Limited edition, the tools to create the case were destroyed and can never be repeated again ( or so they say)
It was a limited edition and I bought it directly from the paris atelier.
I loved it but hardly wore it
It was one of theose watches that looked amazing in real life but for some reason I did not wear it much . Perhaps it wore a little high off the wrist. I preferred the ref 1593 pagoda.
The eiffel tower ref 2441 was also all smaller I think ( I missed out on buying one of those )

There’s nothing like live pics! And I must say that the 1593 looks very attractive too. A little less angular. And a little narrower, curving nicely around the wrist. Very nice.
