I bought many watches this way and never had issues with the warranty.
Also, one authorized Patek dealer here in Zurich managed to completely scratch the bezel of my 5711 when performing routine water resistance and timekeeping testing.

Perhaps you could ask your dealer that the watch be inspected at a Patek service center (or at least at a nearby authorized dealer) to confirm its authenticity?
