and in fact turning the crown is one of the tests I would put any watch through before purchasing it. I may be guilty of a lack of patience here but 150 turns is too many turns even on a beautiful winding mechanism. I reckon 25 to 30 turns daily would be fine, for me anyway.

I would say the Saxonia Thin 37mm gets my vote. Not only it represents great value for its finishing, but it also gives you a lovely, precious, warm tranquility (in Rose Gold). The feeling of winding my 35mm is just out of this world. I can do it all day long.

Yes you might get bored with it if you wear it everyday. But to me it’s not a problem if you put it in your wearing rotation.

The little Lange 1 which you shown here is super nice too. I tried it on myself but I’m failed to imagine myself wearing that without thinking it’s “supposed” to be a lady watch with the whiteish guillache.

the argente dial on the little Lange 1 appears more white no thanks to that white strap! Should one replace it with the standard burgundy/brown strap, the dial would look less white and more silverish. I have to confess that I am arguably an exceedingly strange person in that I love my routines. Not only do I eat almost the same food daily (which is unheard of in culinary delightful Malayia!) but I seem to be spotted wearing the same two or three handed watch for months. Perhaps, that explains why I am quite happy with my current 2.35 watch collection aiming to finally settle for a 5 or 6 watch collection. And apart from a Patek perpetual calendar (5940G), three of the six watches are likely to be two handed watches (including the Saxonia thin). I guess I am just too easily pleased

The problem I have with the guilloche on the Lange 1 isn't that it is feminine (I don't think it is), its that I don't like it. It seems too 'aggressive' and unvaried.

It is interesting to read that you do not like the guillloche on the Lange 1. I actually am not too keen on guilloched dials including the ones on Voutilainen watches which almost everyone love (I put this down to bad taste on my part! ) and would usually prefer simple dials with a vintage patina. However, I actually like the guillloched dial on the little Lange 1 possibly because guilloched dials are rare on Lange watches whereas they are more common on Breguet and Voutilainen watches. So perhaps, I am prioritising rarity of dial rather over quality of finishing. Such weird tastes

I like Breguet's guilloche work on the more subdued Classiques very much. Voutilainen is a little more in your face but I still like it. I think I'd like this Little Lange more if the guilloche was only on the subdials and the rest of the space was left plain but it is obviously an amazing watch anyway!

to disagree with you. Breguet dials are lovely in many ways and I am about to order a Voutilainen without a guilloched dial

It is probably amazing on any dark coloured strap!!

With a choice of a black or white strap.

It would actually boost their sales and not inhibit men with smaller wrists to consider the watch!

There will be quite a few Lange watches to tempt me before I am in a position to buy!
I really do believe that if Lange gives people the option of choosing a black or white strap, it will lead to an increase in sales. As for the AD in KL telling you it is women's watch, I had the Lange boutique in Shanghai tell me that the blue dial Saxonia 35mm is a women's watch. Salespeople are sometimes ill-informed.

when I speak to ADs in the Far East and notice how little the majority of them know of their product compared to their European counterparts. Afterall, they do attend the same training but they seem more intent on getting that 25% discount across than to explain to the buyer of the beauty of the watch and movement. This may also be due to the type of people who go into the watch selling industry in Asia compared to in Europe. I digress totally, sorry.

Unless I'm mistaken, Lange isn't overtly marketing this (ref. no. 182.030) as a gendered watch (women's or men's). Lange's catalog description of the 182.030 contains no reference to gender. I inferred that Lange thought it best to pitch the 182.030 to women for one and only one reason: Because Lange chose white as the default strap color. To me, a white strap is the only thing that makes it look much more like a women's watch than a men's watch. That's the only reason that makes me say, "Lange is marketing this as a women's watch." If everything else about the marketing of this watch had been exactly the same as it was, but if the default strap color were red-brown, brown, or black (vs. white), then I'd think it was marketed as a gender-neutral watch.

there is no reference made to the suitability of the watch to a particular gender and this includes the Saxonia with diamonds. That is because in some markets, it is not uncommon for men to be wearing watches with diamonds whereas in others, in might be frowned upon. The fact that the little Lange 1 is only offered with a white strap definitely makes the watch more feminine. The AD in Kuala Lumpur actually told me it was a ladies watch and he was unable to change the strap to a darker colour. I would have challenged him on that if I had proceeded with the purchase because the Lange boutique in Paris would happily change the strap if requested. I am also unsure if the dial although classified as argente like many other Lange 1s is actually a little whiter than the other argente dials. Perhaps it is the illusion of the white strap that makes the dial look whiter than it is.

I noticed that one of Lange's most prominent ADs in the UK classifies the little Lange 1 as a gentlemen's watch on their website. I also understand that this watch comes with a black satin strap. Lange should just instruct all their ADs to classify this watch as unisex and offer straps in a number of colours. No one would complain I am sure

What next? Good photos of Lange watches on their website?!

to have one watch that would appeal to men and women. Afterall, I believe the smaller 35mm Saxonia is also a unisex watch so a 36.8mm little Lange 1 moonphase can surely fall into that category.
My standards must be low but I had not realised that the photos on the Lange website were not good. I guess nowadays with technological advancements, amazing photos can be captured with the right tool.
