Description

FS: Rolex GMT Master 1675 Pepsi. Serial number 18704XX (circa 1968). Later 93150 flip-lock bracelet. 580 end links. "SWISS-T<25" dial (see more detail below). Watch is in excellent condition and running well. No dings or dents. Recent service in November 2012 ($600) included: movement service, new correct acrylic crystal, new crown, case tube, gaskets, and a light polish. Service receipt will be included. I've been told the Pepsi bezel was replaced before my ownership. Bracelet and clasp in excellent condition with some stretch. I realize the boxes and manuals may or may not be original, but they are included as shown in the picture. Regarding the dial: With the help of a Rolex expert, I now understand why there is no aging on my T<25 dial. This is in fact a Rolex service dial - but one from a unique transitional period. In the 1997/1998 timeframe, Rolex had a number of dials with SWISS-T<25 already imprinted on them. However, by law they could no longer use tritium on their dials. Rather than discard the dials, they simply applied Luminova to the T<25 dials and used them as service dials for those models that would otherwise have had tritium dials. My contact is very confident that my 1675 has one of those dials - thus the lack of patina/aging/degeneration expected of a tritium dal, and thus the superb lume of my dial (see pic below). All of this is documented on The Rolex Forums discussion board if you do a search on it. So, as my contact said to me, it's actually the best of both worlds - vintage Rolex case and movement with the utility of a modern Rolex dial. Asking $4,250 USD including CONUS shipping. Payment by bank wire transfer or Paypal+3%. I have numerous references on multiple watch forums. I may ask for yours if I don't know you. No trades please. Thanks for looking.

📖 About This Reference

The GMT-Master reference 1675 is a significant model in the brand's history, representing an evolution from earlier GMT-Master references. It was produced for an extended period, allowing for numerous dial, bezel, and hand variations throughout its production run. This reference is notable for its introduction of crown guards, enhancing the watch's robustness and contributing to its distinct profile. It solidified the GMT-Master's design language, which would influence subsequent generations. This reference features a 40mm case, available in stainless steel, yellow gold, or a two-tone combination of steel and yellow gold. It is powered by the automatic Caliber 1575, a chronometer-certified movement known for its reliability and a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The watch is fitted with an acrylic crystal and offers a water resistance of 50 meters, suitable for everyday wear. The bidirectional rotating bezel, typically with an aluminum insert, displays a 24-hour scale. For collectors, the 1675 is highly sought after due to its long production period and the resulting variety of configurations, including different dial types (gilt, matte), hand styles, and bezel colors (Pepsi, all-red, all-black). Its four-digit reference number and acrylic crystal are key characteristics that define it as a vintage Rolex. The reference appeals to those interested in the historical development of the GMT-Master line and the nuances of vintage watch collecting.

Rolex GMT MASTER 6542. THE census.
The GMT MASTER 6542 is a relatively rare watch. How many were produced, it is hard to say, but if you keep in mind that, according to Rolex is a document dated from December 1959, only 605 of them were imported in the US, we can reasonably guess that for the rest of the world, you can multiply per 4
