Description

My watch is a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6241 in completely original, unmolested condition. Its condition is nothing short of near mint, and it has the exotic, 3-color, cream "Paul Newman" dial, also original to the watch. The case is impeccable, the movement is the original (I have pictures), and the caseback matches the watch - which I am told is also rare. In short, this is a "no excuses" Paul Newman Daytona. There are no flaws in the dial, no flaws in the hands, missing lume, or mismatched patina, no pitting or corrosion, and no replaced parts.

What makes this Daytona stand out (if it doesn't already!) is the fact that it is a one-owner watch, bought in 1970 and comes with the original papers (not punched as they were not punched yet at this time), but stamped by the AD and - here's the best part - accompanied by the bill of sale from the same AD!!!! Trust me, you don't want to know how much this watch costs originally - lolwink

The watch is accompanied by the original bracelet and the box it came with. Although I do not have it yet, the original owner has agreed to write me a little letter detailing the history of the watch.

Now for me - this is an expensive watch, so you need to trust the seller. I am not a watch dealer, but have sold watches on this forum and others, and as such have excellent international references. I am willing to talk on the phone or even meet in person at a bank or Rolex Service Centre to follow through with the deal.

Any of you who are in the market for one of these does not need to be convinced of how solid an investment one is. However, when Paul Newmans are trading for crazy money with no provenance at shows, and with all the counterfeit models and abused specimens and frankenwatches out there, I think a mint piece with ORIGINAL box and papers, even sales receipt, with documented provenance and piece of mind is almost priceless....almost.

I am asking $119,000 or best offer for mine.

So here is your chance. If you've read this far, and are truly serious and not a scan collector, you can email me and we can chat on the phone. I have some pictures I can show you as well.

Thanks for viewing my postsmile

As you can see. This cigarette brand has a history with formula 1 during the 60s and 70s. Some amazing racing genes as illustrated on the choice of colors they use. It is at this same period Rolex made of of the most amazing chronograph know as the DAYTONA. An icon that needs no further introduction

Racing in the blood! The Richard Mille RM050 and Lotus F1
[A racing machine on the wrist: the RM050 Lotus Romain Grosjean] For the man, and the watch brand, that more than any other had taken Formula 1 Grand Prix racing and distilled it into watchmaking, Richard Mille now had his name on the front of a F1 car. Anything planned for the weekend? Rolex 6239 PN for me
This one has come out to play for the weekend....and I know its Thursday, but it feels like Friday! I know exactly what Nicolas means when he talks about the PN. If i hadn't jumped on this one 5 or so years ago, I am not sure I could have the nerve to jump on one today. But the good news for me is t

Vintage daytona rarity?
I was curious to hear other people's views on the vintage daytonas, and specifically the Paul Newmans. It seems to me that there is no way of telling just how many PN dials there were in various references. Supposedly, some 20% of the 6239s ended up with PN dials, whereas only 5% or so of the 6262s

Rolex virgin.... sorry for posting twice....previous post was misplaced
This is not a normal hunting ground for me. Much more likely to be found on JLC or PP. However, i was at dinner last night and the husband of my wife's friend was wearing a Rolex daytona. I asked him about it and it turns out to be a Ref. 6239, which he told me was rare. We got into a conversation a
