My watch is a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 6241 in completely original, unmolested condition. Its condition is nothing short of near mint, and it has the exotic, 3-color, cream "Paul Newman" dial, also original to the watch. The case is impeccable, the movement is the original (I have pictures), and the caseback matches the watch - which I am told is also rare. In short, this is a "no excuses" Paul Newman Daytona. There are no flaws in the dial, no flaws in the hands, missing lume, or mismatched patina, no pitting or corrosion, and no replaced parts.
What makes this Daytona stand out (if it doesn't already!) is the fact that it is a one-owner watch, bought in 1970 and comes with the original papers (not punched as they were not punched yet at this time), but stamped by the AD and - here's the best part - accompanied by the bill of sale from the same AD!!!! Trust me, you don't want to know how much this watch costs originally - lol
The watch is accompanied by the original bracelet and the box it came with. Although I do not have it yet, the original owner has agreed to write me a little letter detailing the history of the watch.
Now for me - this is an expensive watch, so you need to trust the seller. I am not a watch dealer, but have sold watches on this forum and others, and as such have excellent international references. I am willing to talk on the phone or even meet in person at a bank or Rolex Service Centre to follow through with the deal.
Any of you who are in the market for one of these does not need to be convinced of how solid an investment one is. However, when Paul Newmans are trading for crazy money with no provenance at shows, and with all the counterfeit models and abused specimens and frankenwatches out there, I think a mint piece with ORIGINAL box and papers, even sales receipt, with documented provenance and piece of mind is almost priceless....almost.
I am asking $119,000 or best offer for mine.
So here is your chance. If you've read this far, and are truly serious and not a scan collector, you can email me and we can chat on the phone. I have some pictures I can show you as well.
