📖 About This Reference

**Rolex Datejust Reference 178240** The reference 178240 represents Rolex's Datejust Medium series, featuring a 31mm case size that positions it between the brand's smaller and larger Datejust offerings. This reference was produced from 2009 to 2020, marking an eleven-year production run within the Datejust lineup. The watch features a two-tone construction utilizing Rolex's Rolesor combination of white gold and steel. The case incorporates a smooth bezel and sapphire crystal, with water resistance rated to 100 meters. The timepiece is powered by the automatic caliber 3135 movement, offering a 48-hour power reserve, and is fitted with an Oyster bracelet. This reference appeals to collectors seeking a mid-sized Datejust with precious metal integration in a contemporary format. The 31mm case size and Rolesor construction provide an alternative to purely steel variants, while the smooth bezel offers a clean aesthetic compared to fluted alternatives within the Datejust range.

68279 for the missus?
Passed by my friendly local vintage pusher yesterday and my wife saw a white gold 68279 from 1996. One of his regulars had traded it in for a Patek. Well, she tried it on, decided “I want!” and negotiated a rather good price, at least going by what’s listed on the usual sites. Anything I should be a

Let's lighten up this Tuesday. Show me all your meteorite dials in any reference as Rolex made it for many different models over the years.
I will start with my 116509 meteorite dial 😁

My wife wanted to see her watch through a macro lens,
so I took a few photos of her 31mm Datejust, Ref. 178344 with mother of pearl dial. I did not even notice the date window frame until I took this shot. A nice little feature. Please ignore all the scratches, just as my wife does. She even prohibits me from sending the watch to the RSC for polishing.

I would be extremely grateful if anybody could help me understand which box is the appropriate 'period' box to go with a 1971 Explorer II. I have recently acquired a lovely watch, which I won't always wear, I would like to store it in the right box. There are many for sale on ebay but I want to buy
