Description

One of ever favourite watches.

This is a super rare rolex 40mm submariner 16800 transitional, 1982. It comes with its super coevo matt dial and saphire glass... the transition was infact in the movement and glass upgrades. kepted it with care  though It was personalized for amazing leasure but also with the purposes of wearing a Rolex avoiding the risk of to many indiscrete looks....

We searched and searched to give this amazing watch a true gun metal finished... not a black tipe like you would see it at mad or bamford or venon...we really spent years searching for a DLC treatment, for one harder then ever, possibly able to keep the spirit of the watch. Found the coating procedure in Canada, not really behind the corner I would say... when after few months it got back to me. I opened this understatement beauty.

The estimated retail price given to such a watch by a great reseller in Paris 4 months ago was between euro 9,000 and euro 9,800.
This watch is for those who seek a vintage timepiece that keep proper time and wears easely while providing the owner with an uniqueness feeling without showing this rarity to those who do not understand the word collecting, but suddly only stealing.

The watch come with its original 10links dlc bracelet, original bezel and bakelite scale. I shall also eventually include a “pvd” buckle for leather straps like the one on the picture.

The asking price is a  €7,700, please dm me for enquires

📖 About This Reference

The Rolex Submariner reference 16800 represents a significant transitional model within the Submariner lineage, bridging the gap between vintage and modern iterations. It introduced several key advancements while retaining the classic Submariner aesthetic. This reference is notable for being one of the first Submariner models to incorporate a sapphire crystal and a quick-set date function, marking a departure from earlier plexiglass crystals and non-quick-set movements. It maintained the robust tool watch identity that defines the Submariner series. This reference features a 40 mm stainless steel case, providing a durable and functional housing. It is powered by the automatic Caliber 3035, which offers a power reserve of 42 hours and includes the aforementioned quick-set date complication. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, enhancing its scratch resistance and water integrity, contributing to its 300-meter water resistance rating. The unidirectional rotating aluminum bezel facilitates timing intervals. For collectors, the 16800 is valued for its blend of vintage appeal and modern utility. It is often sought after by those who appreciate the classic Submariner design but desire the practical benefits of a sapphire crystal and a quick-set date. Early examples of the 16800 can feature a matte dial with tritium lume, which later transitioned to gloss dials with white gold surrounds for the hour markers, offering distinct variations for collectors.

Patina question
Seeking advice on a late '80s Rolex 5513. Noticeable patina difference between markers and hands. Hands may have been replaced. Question on impact of patina difference on collectability. Seeking opinions.

Which submariner (date) model will have similar “feeling” bracelet to my 6265
I love how lightweight my 6265 bracelet is. The modern Rolex bracelets I have (116610 super case bracelet, 16520 Daytona) are just so heavy. Will the 16610 bracelet feel like the 6265? Or do I have to go with a 16800 or earlier? Or maybe earlier 16610 models (with exposed lug holes?) will do the tri

This is a cool model the 16800 I don’t know all tye detail so i borrowed s cool review from “Mike” Rolex forum. The reference 16800 is known as the "transitional" Submariner for several reasons. The 16800 replaced the reference 1680 and had several changes/"improvements". It was the first Diver to i
