📖 About This Reference

The Panerai Radiomir PAM338 is a 42mm timepiece that represents a more understated option within the Radiomir collection, offering a balance between Panerai's signature design language and a more wearable size. It features the distinctive wire lugs characteristic of the Radiomir line, contributing to its unique wrist presence. This reference is notable for its composite case material, which provides a unique aesthetic and lightweight feel. Powering the PAM338 is the in-house Panerai Calibre P.999/1, an automatic movement with a 3-day power reserve. The watch includes a date complication and a sandwich dial construction, often presented in a brownish-black hue with beige indices and greenish lume, enhancing legibility and vintage appeal. The crystal is a 1.5mm thick sapphire, ensuring durability and clarity. For collectors, the PAM338 offers a blend of traditional Radiomir design with modern materials and an in-house movement. Its 42mm case size makes it a versatile choice for those who appreciate Panerai's aesthetic but prefer a more compact fit than the larger 45mm or 47mm models. The combination of its unique case material and movement positions it as a distinctive piece within the broader Panerai catalog.

What do you think about PAM 992 ?
I have tried it once and found the dial a bit cramped, if it would be 47 mm it could be better. However every time I see it, I am considering to try it again, brushed case and blue hands are really cool. What are your opinions ?

42mm Ti with leather strap
Since my early introduction to pin cushion Radiomirs, I always loved the look of how 47mm Rads looked with thick vintage straps (same width at buckle and case). While in contrast, the 45mm Rads I owned never looked as good to me with a non taper strap; which I attributed to the fact that 26 or 27 wa

Not the typical PAM...
42mm Pam 338 in mahogany brown alligator. One of the light weight and dressy elegant pams, IMHO.

Short list keeps getting longer
So I had narrowed down my short list to two watches, the NOS (new old stock) Audemars Gstaad Chronograph and the Ralph Lauren Automotive Chronometer but then Tudor threw a wench into my decisionmaking by releasing the Black Bay Black Bezel last month and while I was pondering those three choices, a
