Description

This is IWC's one-time limited edition Portuguese made in 2005 in honour of IWC's founder, F.A. Jones thus his signature is printed on the dial of the watch. What makes this watch highly collectible is that IWC specially made the movement Calibre 98290 which resembles closely the original "Jones" calibre from over a 100 years' ago for this watch which with a diameter of 43 mm also marked the re-launch of the large Portuguese watch. IWC was founded in 1868 by an American engineer & watchmaker, Florentine Ariosto Jones in Schaffhausen where the factory still operates today. On this movement, one can find the distinctive 3/4 plate & the oversized regulator which is often known as "Jones arrow" found on early IWC pocket watches. The watch has a Porcelain white dial with dark blue Arabic numerals, Breguet hands, black signature & minute divisions. Small seconds at 6. Dimensions are 43mm x 51mm x 11mm. Prduction of this watch is limited to 3,000 pieces. This FA Jones Portuguese when it was first launched, has received an overwhelming response in the collectors’ market with some collectors paying close to US$15,000 for this steel watch. But now I am offering an opportunity to own this watch at a sensible price of US$9,000 which is a great value for collectors. Only 3000 pieces were ever made. Watch is in an excellent condition. It has a few very minor surface hairlines only & does not need to be polished while the original strap is over 90% new. No box and papers. Watch was bought at an international auction, hence the auction house receipt will be attached. This receipt certifies the authenticity of the watch as the auction house guaranty for a full refund plus compensation for whatever damages that the buyer may suffer should any part of the watch is found, within the next 5 years, not being genuine. This is a rare and highly collectible timepiece. Interested buyers may email me for any questions you have. I am based in Hong Kong and Singapore, hence if buyer is located in either of these places, a face-to-face deal may be arranged.

IWC Portuguese 7 Days Ref 5000.
How sensuous with its plexy, its leaf hands, the round dots and the heated blue power reserve and second hands. And at that time, in the early 2000's, a 7 Days Power Reserve was not that common! Best, Nicolas
