Hello all.
In light of a couple of recent acquisitions, I need to part with one I know I'll never run across again. For sale is my Dubois 1875 Chronometre (circa 1958), which is powered by the iconic Peseux 260 chronometer movement. To me, one of the 3 "holy trinity" time only movements of the wristwatch era (together with the Omega 30T2rg and the Zenith 135).
There is plenty written about the Peseux 260 movement for those so inclined, but here's a (very) brief summary. The Peseux 260 movements were designed specifically for observatory competitions, and were used for that purpose by such houses as Ulysse Nardin, Breguet, LeRoy, Bucherer and, at least in one instance, Marvin. Total production of this movement has been estimated to be 3,300 units over a period of 25 or so years (ending in 1970). Beyond the small number produced, many of these movements never found their way into a wristwatch, making them somewhat of a "ghost" of late (putting aside Kari's magnificent work with this movement in his Observatoire line). I don't think I've seen any wristwatch housing this movement for sale since I purchased mine a few years ago.
Dubois came into possession of a limited number of Peseux 260s fifty or so years ago, and the wristwatch pictured below was the result. What drew me to this specific iteration of the P260, however, was the large case (36mm) and Dubois' election to incorporate the Incabloc shock protection system into the wristwatch, making this a truly wearable piece of art and history.
The example for sale is in exemplary condition, and running beautifully. Pictures can't capture the elegance and "presence" of this timepiece. And for a bit of icing on the cake, the watch will be sold with the original box.
The price for my Dubois is US $8,750, plus shipping. I accept payment by wire transfer. Plenty of references for those that would like them.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
Thanks.
