Description

Up for sale is this extremely rare Breitling ref. 2610 Unitime with synchronized 24-hour ring complication and calibrated rotating bezel for telling time in multiple zones. It is 100% authentic Vintage Breitling and in overall Excellent original condition with a gorgeous gloss lacquer dial. This 2nd iteration of the Unitime features a more rugged military design and a low 1mil SN, which according to the best available information dates it to circa 1965. The price for this ultra-rare Unitime is $3950 USD OBRO including fully insured shipping worldwide. Bank Wire preferred. Other payment options upon application. Payment must be made in US DOLLARS. Watch will ship upon full clearance of the funds, as well as any necessary bank vetting. Click Here for Large Dial Scan CASE & CASEBACK: Large 38mm twisted lug case (width including bezel but not crown) may have been buffed but has very crisp edges and so I don’t think it has ever been heavily polished. There are a few nicks to the lugs, particularly to the bottom of them for whatever reason, and some accumulated scratches but nothing too terrible--Very Good vintage condition overall. Water resistant screw-in caseback is likewise externally Very Good and shows some tool marks and perhaps some previous polish. But all original Breitling nomenclature for the era and model is still present and legible, including the Unitime script and correct 2610 reference. Inner caseback has some very mild corrosion to the lip and features a low 1 million serial number, correct for the short window of manufacture for these scarce 2nd generation Unitimes. DIAL & HANDS: Simply gorgeous and Excellent+ black gloss lacquer dial with original silver print and applied luminous-filled bar markers. Aperture for the original red date @ “6” and Mint checkerboard-style inner self-rotating 24-hour ring for telling military time and calculating other international times with the aid of the bezel. If not for one scratch that goes from the center to the “8” marker, the whole dial would really be Mint. As it is, this dial is still head and shoulders above most of the existing examples of this watch, as they are often completely thrashed. Original hands are Very Good with the luminous largely intact but somewhere along the line the black paint from the non-luminous parts has been removed leaving the brass from underneath exposed, probably for reasons of legibility. The effect is not wholly unappealing but of course must be mentioned in any honest description. CROWN: Original Breitling-signed crown sits snugly against the case, winds and pulls out to the time-setting position exactly as designed. CRYSTAL: Older low dome acrylic crystal is Excellent with some light scratches and a few more permanent small dents. BEZEL: Original knurled bidirectional military-style calibrated +/- hours bezel is Very Good with some loss of the enameled numeral printing, particularly evident near the “12” triangle. The friction-spring bezel (not a click/ball bearing-style like the earlier 1-260 “World Time” dress model) rotates firmly but smoothly in both directions with light finger pressure for calculations of different time zones around the world plus or minus the wearer’s current location in relation to the inner rotating 24-hour ring. MOVEMENT: This Unitime features a Breitling-modified Felsa cal. 711 17-jewel automatic movement with shock protection. This is the same complication found in Breitling’s earlier ref. 1-260 “World Time” dress Unitime and operates quite similarly to (and was no doubt inspired by) Patek Phillipe’s famous 12-120 HU. The watch is keeping good time with all functions operating as they should and, most importantly, the 24-hour ring is perfectly synchronized with the conventional 12-hour hands. While I do not know this watch’s service history and so cannot guarantee that it will not need service in the future, I do guarantee it to be operating properly at the time of shipment. BRACELET/BAND: This great Unitime comes on a barely used genuine black sharkskin strap manufactured by Vuarnet. The lug width of this watch is 19mm. I make absolutely NO guarantees for the water resistance of this watch. This all-time classic Vintage Breitling is offered with a 3-day inspection period from the date of receipt and may be returned for a full refund (less any shipping costs incurred by the buyer). This refund is unconditional and once I get the watch back in exactly the same condition as it was sent to you, your money will be refunded. Of course, once the 3 days are over the sale will be considered FINAL. Thanks for looking, T. tomvox1 @ hotmail.com

πŸ“– About This Reference

The Breitling Unitime Reference 2610 is a notable world timer from the brand's mid-20th century production, designed to display multiple time zones simultaneously. This model was part of Breitling's broader strategy to offer specialized instruments for professionals and travelers, distinguishing itself with a practical and legible world time complication. The watch typically features a stainless steel case, often measuring around 38mm in diameter, housing a manual-winding movement. The dial is characterized by its rotating inner bezel, which displays 24 cities representing different time zones, allowing the wearer to track global time at a glance. The movement is engineered for reliability and precision, consistent with Breitling's standards for its tool watches of the era. For collectors, the Reference 2610 represents an important piece of Breitling's heritage in functional complications. Its world time function, combined with its vintage aesthetic, makes it a sought-after example of early travel watches. The model's design and utility reflect the growing demand for global timekeeping in the post-war period.
