Montblanc Presents New Boutique Concept in Hong Kong
Montblanc opens the city’s first new boutique concept at ifc mall
Sophisticated and immersive, the new store concept is as representative of Montblanc’s refined luxury and craftsmanship as much as it is of Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance design language. The new concept features three main design themes linked to the roots of the Maison; Cursive handwriting associated with the Montblanc fountain pen is the starting point for the overall design. The curve gesture that gives shape to the retail space evokes calligraphy and the culture of writing. The emblem, inspired by the snowcap of Mont Blanc and symbol of the highest standards of perfection, is paired with various ink colours to represent the life and soul of Montblanc and its quest for constant evolution through innovation. Inside the boutique, a jet of ink animates large screens along black lacquered wall panels that recall the Maison’s inimitable precious resin. The third element is a passion for craftsmanship, the value that has punctuated the brand’s long history. Narrated through the structured architecture and dark wood composition, it is inspired by the wood furniture used by craftsmen to practice their skills in each of the Maison’s manufactures whether watchmaking, writing instruments, jewellery or leather goods.
In celebration of its 110th anniversary this year, Montblanc has launched a new concept boutique in Hong Kong, following earlier ones in Seoul, Taipei, Paris, and Hamburg, with a renewed determination to enhance service quality in addition to business growth. “For more than a century, Montblanc has built up its heritage and pursuit of innovation with the finest products and exquisite craftsmanship allowing us to create collections that are passed from generation to generation,” said Julien Renard, President of Montblanc Asia Pacific. “This year Montblanc marks its 110th anniversary and we are thrilled to introduce our new boutique at ifc mall, a prestigious location in the very heart of Hong Kong, to push boundaries and inspire our customers with highly crafted pieces. The new concept boutique invites our visitors to a journey of discovery into the heart of the Montblanc universe,” he added.
To celebrate the opening of the new boutiqueat ifc mall, the Maison has prepared several events and promotions, offering an inviting shopping experience for Montblanc customers. In the new boutique, shoppers can discover the Montblanc Heritage Collection, Rouge & Noir Limited Edition 1906 writing instrument inspired by the original “Rouge et Noir” foundation pen, the Maisons’ first product series introduced in 1909. To salute Montblanc’s 110 years of excellent heritage, the fountain pen shares the same limitation number as the year Montblanc was founded. The cap and barrel of the writing instrument are crafted from ebonite, a material that contains natural rubber with sulphur and linseed oil used in a model from 1909, and still manufactured according to a traditional process.

About Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance
French-born designer of both spaces and objects, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance creates environments that are not distinguished in any way by a use, a form, a material or an aesthetic. He considers each project like an organic form that grows with its user. A place where the curve and the straight line, sensuality and rigour interact in a confrontation conducive to creating meaning and able to awaken all the senses, in the style of a natural element which can also defy human order and disorder. Duchaufour Lawrance often compares his approach to niwa, the little garden found at the heart of a traditional Japanese house. Like an organic pulse within a discipline dedicated above all to respond to the demands of the industry, market or client. Thus, he does not limit himself in the projects that he develops, designing objects for inspired lines for design manufacturers such as Bernhardt Design, Ceccotti Collezioni, Ligne Roset, Pleyel, Tachini and Zanotta, composing harmonious living areas including Air France lounges Ciel de Paris, Senderens, Megu at The Alpina Gstaad, La Transhumance chalet) as well as defining the image of a product or a showcase for a famous brand from Paco Rabanne and Perrier Jouët to Baccarat and Swarovski. Inhabited by a legacy for art nouveau, Noé Duchaufour Lawrance refers to the universal character of nature to impose forms that make sense.
