For the first time in the company’s history,
IWC Schaffhausen is combining the production of in-house manufactured calibres,
movement components as well as watch cases under one roof in a sleek 13,500
square-metre Manufakturzentrum in Merishausen, which is located on the
outskirts of the Swiss town of Schaffhausen. Inspired by the look and feel of
modernist exhibition pavilions around the world, the new 130-metre-long and 62-metre-wide
IWC Manufakturzentrum is bringing together departments that were previously
spread out across different locations in Neuhausen and Schaffhausen, enabling
the brand to fully optimise its existing production process workflows and
structures. The new IWC Manufakturzentrum, which is designed by IWC CEO Mr.
Christoph Grainger-Herr, will also present employees with excellent working
conditions and, like the company’s headquarters in Schaffhausen’s old town, it
will run on Swiss hydroelectric power generated with zero CO2 emissions.
The opening of IWC’s new manufacturing
facility will mark a new milestone for the globally renowned watchmaking
company, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year.
