Hello Gents,
Well, it is here. My Senator Panodate. Stainless Steel. No.431 First impressions--good heft. Great gleam. Love the size. Very masculine without overstatement. Elegant and strong. Love the matte finish beside the polish on the case. Love the GG on the sweep hand. A man's watch. Fantastic, subtle, but no mistaking the expense. Winding the crown is a sublime thrill. Aaaahhh... Listening to the movement, so fast and bright. Behold: the movement. God, I feel so damn lucky!
As you know, this is the simplest dial Glashutte makes. To me, it is all that is necessary. I love minimalism in a watch. My other favorite is my '62 Ingenieur, also a study in uncluttered reserve and choice detail. How fortunate we are to own these rare and inspiring beauties! I feel like a great watch is a companion on the life-journey. Truly, I feel accompanied by the craft, the community, the history.
Now, may I say , this crazy deployant clasp is a chore? I'll get used to it. May remove it. Does anyone else prefer good old fashioned buckles?
Tis a joyous day. Bye for now.
