Glashütte Original

For all those sceptical about the new guilloche pattern ...

... there is no reason to worry that the classic and decent design might become flashy. The pattern (no guilloche by hand, but stamped) is a very specific one: A hand guilloche is much deeper, with wider "trenches", and thus very apparent. The new GO pattern, however, is very thin and fine. From normal viewing distance, the whole center of the watch looks as if it is satinized, but smooth-surfaced. Only on closer inspection, or when a direct light hits the edges of the structure, the pattern becomes visible. Additionally, the fact that the pattern is not radiating from the centre, but from one indication (either panorama date or moonphase), makes it looking very special. Believe me, I was in doubt about the pattern when I saw the press pics, but the real pieces absolutely convinced me of the contrary. They are wonderful! Maybe not that sober as the previous version, I agree. But defintely not flashy or fashion-oriented. The same applies to the changed frames of the panorama date. BTW, contrary to the press pics, the fonts used for the panorama date will be the same, elegantely serifed font, not the modern sans-serif font shown in the pics.

Regards,

Marcus
