A few weeks ago, Marcus had asked who has a PanoMatic Date (http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=136774&messageid=1105664864).
There has been faint response. In fact, our answer has been the only one. So, it seems to us that the PanoMatic Date is not too popular.
Marcus? poll results (http://www.network54.com/Forum/message?forumid=136774&messageid=1106858802)
show the same: A very poor performance of the PanoMatic Date!
After a five-week ownership (OK, it?s a quite short period), however, we think that this watch deserves a better position on the ranking list.
We own the stainless steel model (Ref. 90-01-02-02-04). At first glance, the design of the PanoMatic Date seems to be very unostentatious, even puritanical. The dial shows the bare essentials: The off-center hour and minute displays with subsidiary seconds and the panorama date. The cold steel case, the silvered dial and the black Louisiana crocodile leather strap give a cool-aristocratic touch.

At closer inspection, you will discover some features that will change your opinion:
Some parts of the steel case have a high gloss polished surface, some have a satined surface ? a perfect combination. And the dial loves to play with the different colors of the light: It reflects a cool ?businessman-like? silveriness under the desktop lamp, and a warm and golden glimmer under the January sun. Hard to believe that it?s the same watch ?
But if you turn it around, you will experience a perfect metamorphosis:
You can compare the forefront with a lady?s high-necked evening gown.
And what does the back side look like? You?re right! A perfect d?collet?. Just look and enjoy!

The really exquisitely finished movement (calibre 90, three-quarter plate with blued screws), the skeletonized off-center rotor ?

?. its oscillating weight made of 21-karat gold ?

? that doesn?t obstruct the view over the duplex swan-neck fine adjustment, the screw balance with 18 weighted gold screws and the gorgeous engravings on the balance cock.

These wonderful features show that the PanoMatic Date is not a Cinderella, but rather a real princess.
What do you mean?
Kind regards
