Two different AD visits to see the Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer . . .

The first AD’s lighting gives the appearance of yellow gold instead of white gold:


Today’s AD visit had much better lighting:


I absolutely 😍love😍 this piece!


If this was stainless steel, I would have jumped at this!

Unfortunately, at this price point, it’s competing directly with another German 😍love😍 of mine - the 1815 Up/Down:

The only thing I would change on this reference would be thicker hands. I find the hands too thin for the size of the watch

I had a few GO over the recent years and the Perpetual calendar senator also has these twisted hands but they are thicker...more to my liking. Now I must say the new indices on this dial are awesome with the bleu accent

Love the dial treatment on that GO.

But if at the same price point as the ALS, I'm not sure about the value proposition. I've meanwhile had an enduring weakness for the Senator Chronometer in its Regulator guise... Thanks for posting these!

Moral of the story: First AD didn’t pay his electric bill 😂 So, at that price point, if they are close, it has to be the up/down for me!

I haven't checked price points on these 2, but IMO I think that GO usually is better value for the money. I love GO and its watches. Overall ALS comes with all the prestige and high(er) prices. In this case, though, the 1815 Up down is the true beauty in ...
