Stalled 3998

I have a 3998 that runs flawlessly however recently it did something unsettling. It lost four hours over night one night and two hours over night the next night. The watch was manually wound after the first time loss even though I had been wearing the watch continually. Both nights I fell asleep wearing the watch. The watch was not dropped, banged or exposed to moisture. I have fallen asleep wearing the watch in the past and never experienced any time loss. I really hate to send the watch out for repair especially since it has been running perfect. Anyone ever had a similar problem?
