All,
My first post here, I am relatively new to the PP world.
I bought my first Patek, a 5130P because I just loved the way it looked and I wear it every day. The worldtime complication is very useful since I travel a lot.
I recently tried on two of the PP chronographs at a gray dealer a couple of weeks ago and I simply can't get my mind off them. The 5970 fits just perfectly on my wrist and I was just mesmerized by a 5004's split chrono movement.
If I get myself to spend well into the six figures for one of these, can I wear the watch every day -- without worrying that it will have to spend six months out of every year in Geneva getting repaired?
I am not talking playing golf here but I have to admit that I rank above-average in clumsiness: my watches tend to get a lot of scratches as I sometimes bump into objects watch-first.
I realize that their value will go down if heavily used but I am not looking for investments: I don't claim to understand the watch market enough to "invest". I try to buy what I really like and I think will be wearing a lot in the future (don't get me wrong -- all other things being equal I prefer appreciation over depreciation: I just don't get the market)
So my question is: 5970 vs 5004: how much less abuse can they take than my existing 5130? Is it even reasonable to expect watches like these complex chronos to be used daily?
Thank you!
