Patek 3919, please help
Hello all,
My husband has a Patek 3919G and after I fully wound it, it runs only for 8-9 hour max and stops. I thought 3919 should run for at least 42 hours? Please let me know your thought if this is normal or something is wrong w/ the watch. Thanks a million.

8 to 9 hours is much too short
You should have the watch checked out by a qualified watchmaker to resolve the problem. Sending it back to Patek would give assurance of the highest level of service, but it will be the most expensive and probably take several weeks, if not months. - SJX

Thanks for the advice, by the way, how many turns should it require in order to be fully wound? I heard we just wind til' it stops, then go backward a turn to release the pressure, is it true? thanks again.
That is correct
Winding it until it stops is enough, usually that takes about 30-50 turns of the crown. I'm not sure how many turns exactly for the 3919 but it should be in that ballpark. - SJX

Thanks for this info, I usually just wind my watches til it stops. I'll have to get into this practice, I always thought winding a watch the other way would cause damage, but just enough to release the pressure sounds reasonable....
