Old Karree vs. New Karree

Hi All,

I am a very proud owner of a Karree Perpetual "old model" in rose gold.  I really love the watch, from the elegant yet clean dial to the movement finishing in the caliber 39.  The older version seems to appeal to me a little more than the newer version, but this does not ring true in all of the new version Karree's.  To me the case of the old version has great detail and I love the avant garde look of the watch.  However, I have had the opportunity to view the new version in the cal. 22 manual wind, both in rose gold, and in steel.  These watches are absolutely gorgeous and elegant, while representing the Glashutte style of watch making.

The movement in the Karree cal. 22 manual wind is fabulously finished and crafted.  I love the fitted movement in this Karree version.  I have owned a couple of Lange's, and I can say that noticing the difference in the finishing with the naked is is very difficult.  Simply put the this newer version of the Karree really appeals to my senses.  Overall, I must give the older version a slight edge, due to the magnificent case details and dial configurations on the perpetuals.  One last thing that the old version has that I prefer is the brushed finish on the case.  The newer models come with a polished case, which gives the watch a very elegant look.  In sum, I do prefer the older version as far as perpetuals go, but would definately put my money down on a new version cal. 22 manual wind.  Please understand that I do really like the newer versions, and find them appealing, but just slightly prefer the older models.  If the older model never existed, the new version Karree would be my favorite torneau shaped watch.

What I would love to know from everybody is what your opinions are of the old and new Karree's.  I am not necessarily asking you to pick a winner, although if you have an opinion on which you like more please feel free to address it, but what qualities and deficiencies you find in each version.

Godspeed,

Scott D
