Greetings to all,
Wanted to introduce myself to the forum members. I have a science background and do appreciate the the art of watchmaking, the concept of time, relatively and astronomically speaking. I hope i will be able to insite stimulating questions from time to time. Opinions are always appreciated from all levels of expertice since we are all graduates from the school of experience.

Some questions.
I have been observing some of the watch makers out there, W/res to the perpetual watches, some makers choose to use dial indicators and some choose to impliment the aperature windows to tell day, month, year. ect. PP for the most part uses dials. Why was this method chosen over the aperature. Does it have to do with the level of complication/technology and the difficulty creating the watch in that manner. Designer's preference?
A question was answeared concerning the dial markers advance by jumping to the next day, date, month. Could a watch be made where it all jumps really close to when the hour is 11:59:59pm?
The moon phase is geared to the 29.45 day lunar cycle? or to a 24 hour cycle showing regression on the dial at the 24th hour?. (I.E the dial spins 1 time every 29.45 days or a little less than 1 time every 24 hours respectively) I guess that the moon would not really jump to achieve a phase, however Is there a reference time such as GMT or Siderial Time to refer to the phase of the moon at a certain time of that particular day. How close will the watch be to the true and actual time calculated by the astronomers who monitor celestial events?
thanks again
