New 3711 making noise

Hi

I just got my first patek last week, the 3711/1G (aka Jumbo Nautilus?). The watch is absolutely fantastic and I love it to bits.

However, yesterday morning I noticed that the watch had started to make a noise. (When I say started, I can't say that it hadn't done it before). The watch is perfectly silent when left still, however, if the watch is moved such that the power reserve on the back spins (i.e. normal movement of your arm), the watch makes a clicking sound. It's a very 'fast' clicking.

I spoke to the dealer who I bought the watch off (an official Patek Philippe shop - fyi) and he said that this noise meant that the power reserve was completely charged and this clicking was just part of the movement moving past the spring to avoid over-tension. While this makes sense, it would imply that after 24 hours of not wearing the watch it would not make the noise anymore because the power reserve would no longer be fully charged.

While the noise is only very slightly frustrating (if the watch is on your wrist, you'd only hear the noise if the room was silent) I am just slightly concerned. Could anyone else who has / has had dealing with a 3711 just confirm whether this noise is indeed supposed to be there or not?

Thanks very much.

Tom.
