Hello Jon, I hope it is not too late for an answer. Setting home time is not something easy to do, but still easier to do than to describe. Still, this is how the 2005 launch press release explained it: "The traveller called upon to spend a longer period ... 

I suspect that may reviewers have never properly set a Lange Timezone, or have had it delivered by the dealer with the correct zone already set up. They gush about the ease of use, but what if the watch still thinks it is in Germany? No post I have found ... 

It sure helped me figuring out how to set it. The Lange instructions were not too descriptive. Thanks Brent!
