Hublot

Almost an European Cup final...

You know the Hublot involvement in several top football teams. I propose you a fast game between two of the most prestigious teams in Europe... well, actually between their watches!

On the left, the Bayern Munchen which has just won the Champions League against Dortmund. On the right, the Juventus, currently the best italian team.

Both watches are based on the same watch: the King Power 48mm. And both are proudly bearing their colours!

They use the HUB4245 movement which is characterized by the central hand of the 45 minutes counter. Obviously, to avoid any confusion, the second hand has a specific shape with an enlarged end to be easily noticable. The peripheral scale is used by the second hand while the inner one displays the minutes of the chronograph. The performances of the movement are similar to any caliber based/built around the 7750 with a 4hz frequency and 42 hours of power reserve.

The winding rotor is hollowed to make the bridges more visible. It is a tugsten rotor with black coating.

The Bayern Munchen King Power features satin-finished titanium case and bezel. The mix of red and blue makes the dial very colourful. The Bayern Munchen logo is well integrated on it. Of course, the left subdial is dedicated to the permanent second hand.

On the right caseside, you will notice the red pusher. Date window is located at 4:30.

The colours combine well all together and despite the presence of red, the watch doesn't seem to be too aggressive.

The HUB4245 movement (yes, HUB4245 and not HUB4200 despite what is written on the plate) is not a spectacular movement and even if it features a nice winding rotor, I would have preferred a solid caseback. But I have to confess that the finishings of the parts are well done for this kind of movement.

We change the atmosphere with the Juventus King Power ! It is not only due to the other colours but also to the case material. Forget the titanium of the Bayern Munchen watch, Hublot uses carbon fiber for this King Power. It is a clever move because the carbon fiber pattern works well with the black&white domination. Here again, the logo of the club is well integrated on the dial:

Another big change comes from the screw. While they were located at the same layer than the bezel with the Bayern Munchen watch, this time they become prominent. This style gives a lot of character to the watch.

Let's put the watches on the wrist now.

The comfort on the wrist is always a strong asset with any Hublot watch thanks to the efficient folding clasp. It may be surprising but even with a 48mm case, both watches remain very wearable at least in terms of comfort.

The Juventus version uses a black rubber & white calf strap which finishes off the whole design of the watch:

The Bayern Munchen version strap is made of black rubber with red decor. It is less original than the Juventus one.

So, which club won this game?

Even if the Bayern Munchen King Power uses brighter colours, it is at the end more discreet than the Juventus one! The "Italian" watch is more daring due to its carbon fiber case and the original strap. It is the reason why that at the end, I would choose the "German" watch because the King Power case size is already enough for a bold design. I found the Juventus King Power a bit "too much" to be frank with you. It is just my point of view but this excessive approach can be perceived by others as a very positive quality.

But, you know, when it comes to football and to its most famous clubs, a sensible way to choose one of these watches is not an option. You will choose the watch of the club which speaks to you the most. It is a matter of passion!

Both watches are sold in LE of 200 pieces.

I would like to finish the report with a watch which is not seen very often. If I remember well, Ken already put pictures of it. It is my turn to do it!

When one of your players is injured, you put the substitute on the field!

So Hublot is doing the same with this Service watch. But don't expect to see Christiano Ronaldo substituing Leo Messi!

If Leo Messi is injured (your Big Bang, your Tourbillon watch...), Hublot may propose you to wear this quartz powered watch during the service period.

It is an old idea which was put in place by Carlo Crocco. It has been relauched several months ago.

The watch looks like an enhanced Swatch with a nice case inspired by the classic Hublot case.

I think that the "not for sale" is too visible on the dial... a more discreet colour would have been better.

And the substitute on the wrist! But I'm not sure to see it playing for Bayern Munchen or Juventus. Maybe for Darlington or Colchester...

Anyway, I think it is a good idea for Hublot to put again in place this service. An additional service to customers is always welcome.

I would like to thank a lot the team of the Paris boutique.
