Patek Philippe

First, let me say that I enjoy this forum immensely.I too find this new reference to be very interesting.I certainly do not consider myself to be a collector and I often wonder at how many of the wealthy members of this forum are going to run out and purchase the latest model.
In my humble opinion, the introduction of this model by Patek Phillipe has done little to enhance their image as the premier watchmaker of the world..If furthering the advancement of horology is the main thrust of this introduction then that is fine and they should be commended. However my main objection is the" dial", which in my humble opinion changes the whole character of the watch and ones image of Patek Phillipe.
Several years ago, when Patek introduced the Ref.5070 it seemed to me to be trying to convey a feeling of a company that was concerned about not standing still, concerned about moving forward with technical innovation but doing so in a way that put those technical innovations and aesthetics above passing fashions and economic trends. The watch seemed to revive some of the most fundamental and traditional devices of the highest levels of watchmaking.
In contrast the introduction of Ref.5960P does nothing for me with regard to aesthetics.I first noticed this change with the introduction of Ref. 6000.(red on the dial,my oh my!!!!)
I do not wish to offend anyone with my remarks. If I were a collector and had the resources I would run out and purchase a Ref.5115R which I consider to be one of the most striking and beautiful examples of Patek Philippe's watchmaking skill.A watch that forever will stand the test of time.
