324 movement differences?

i have viewed other posts regarding the 5146 watch changing from a 315 to a 324 movement over the last few months.

but, looking at the different watches posted here and there, there seem to be different 324 movements; what i see is that on the patek site the rotor is in the center, with the rotor itself covering (at some point in time) the entire back of the movement, while on some pics posted by individuals, the 324 movement (not in the 5146) has the rotor off center and the spring/wheel etc. are NEVER covered by the rotor no matter where it is. (ie much smaller but much thicker)

i know this isnt a great explanation, but im not sure how to describe it any better.   and perhaps the pictures are mislabeled.

in any event, am i missing something here, or are there major differences in the 324 movements (particularly where the rotor is mounted).

thanks.
