Team,

Last Saturday I was wrapping a sale (My Breitling Aviastar to help funding the New Vintage 69 Ti) and I was chatting with a dear friend buyer/seller and he mentioned a past trade with a common friend that included "a square Zenith". As a coincidence, this common friend was the former owner of the Aviastar.

Since the Breitling sale was somehow stuck based on a small difference (few quids) I asked to see the Zenith and we booked a breakfast next day. On the same day, he sent pictures of the "square 33mm Zenith" and I was unsure about the small size, forgetting that square watches even with small length have ... a square area.

A quick search on the Rossler book and I could locate the watch (Page 204) and identify it as a "Classe 6 Elite Carré".

With the small (33mm) in mind, I consider it as a gift to my wife, that is being "converted" as a watch aficionado.

Next day I went to the breakfast on a nice bakery and we cut the deal. Gone is the Aviastar, got the remaining $$$ to pay for the New Vintage and I also got the now named "Classe 6 Elite Carré".

Back home, my wife got the watch and she was immediately in love with the Zenith. Her statement: "Amazing comfortable on the wrist". Her only disappointment was the buckle that is 16mm and I could not replace the strap by a nice brown ostrich that I have. Time to search for a Zenith 18mm buckle, no big deal.

This morning I did an additional research learning that the caliber 670 is well regarded as one outstanding, albeit simple, movement.

Enough said, here is the "Classe 6 Elite Carré":

On top of Rossler book.

Some reflections on my home office window.

Case back.

I love happy endings.

I wish great 2013 to all.

Cheers,

Nilo

I find it combines both the modern and the vintage in just the right proportion. IMO, it's strongest element is the case, with its substantial beveled border. I've never thought of it as a woman's watch, but can't deny that it works well on Madame's wrist. It's vintage antecedent says hello:

But how do you do with your numerus clausus theory? You broke it? ;) Best, my dear friend. Nico
