OK, I want to admit it.... I am a long time lurker, for maybe 3 years or more. I found this site whilst researching a purchase and then found I had to come back repeatedly ( a sign of a good and interesting site, I think). Initially I would read posts whilst at work when no-one was looking but then it became more frequent and obvious. They even caught me at work (how embarrassing). Soon I was also reading posts on my home computer at night and on weekends. I tried to break the habit a couple of times for a month or two but it never worked. I always came back. So I won't fight it any more. My name is Richard and I don't want to be a lurker any more. This is a wonderful forum and I must be a part of it. I have an eclectic assortment of quality timepieces including Omega, JLC, IWC, Patek Philippe, Girard Perregaux, Rolex, Glashutte Original and Breguet. Now that I have taken that first step, I look forward to participating and continuing to learn more in the future. So what was the watch that got me onto this forum...

Sorry, but I have split my first post into 2 parts because I wasn't sure how uploading photos on an iMac would go. I actually bought my IWC Portuguese almost by accident. I had gone to an AD because I wanted the IWC St Exupery (First version) to celebrate a birthday. They didn't have it but I ordered it anyway and paid a deposit.
