Dr. Tabby, known as Spangles, initiates a compelling discussion on unexpected watch wows, inviting the community to share those rare moments when a watch far exceeded expectations upon trying it on. His personal revelation came from a Breguet 5177bb with a blue enamel dial, a piece he found far more captivating in person than in photographs, ultimately shifting his acquisition priorities. This thread explores the subjective and often surprising nature of watch appreciation.

But let's play your game: Not all are mines, alas... Best, Nicolas
very well be my fault. Thanks for reminding me that i should try this piece. And the best part: An Enamel dial isnt even something special with this manufacture. Cheers
I tried two Patek on the same day, literally one after the other, both for the first time. The Nautilus 5712A and the first regulator. I was stunned, needless to say it took a while and a good chunk of money but eventually I got both. Funny enough I got the Nautilus first, very surprised by the Nautilus asymmetric dial which I used to hate on photos.
I agree that sometimes a more unique dial needs to be seen before we know if it's right for us. Thanks!
I can see all of these, such as the montblanc, and the ALS, will have a special life on the wrist that a picture can't quite convey.
never expected that it would haunt my dreams. Pure unobtanium for me...
