Certainly not the first thing we look at on a watch, but definitely important: here's a close look at the pin buckles of my personal trio:
  • L.U.Chopard Quattro Spirit 25, ref. 161977-5001
  • Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955, ref. 5000H/000R-B059
  • Laurent Ferrier Galet Micro-Rotor
Enjoy!

About the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ref. CornesdeVache1955

The Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955 is a chronograph model that draws inspiration from a specific Vacheron Constantin chronograph reference from the mid-20th century. It is part of the Historiques collection, which reinterprets significant designs from the brand's heritage. This particular model is notable for its distinctive "cow horn" lugs, a design element that gives the watch its name and sets it apart from more conventional chronograph cases.

The case of the Cornes de Vache 1955 is crafted from precious metal, typically rose gold, and features the characteristic sculpted lugs. It houses a manually wound chronograph movement, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The dial layout is a classic bi-compax chronograph configuration, with a tachymeter scale around the periphery. The crystal protecting the dial is sapphire, often with an anti-reflective coating.

This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate vintage-inspired designs and the craftsmanship of traditional watchmaking. Its faithful recreation of a historical Vacheron Constantin chronograph, combined with modern manufacturing standards, makes it a sought-after piece. The Cornes de Vache 1955 is offered in various precious metal iterations, each maintaining the core design elements that define this distinctive model within the Historiques collection.

The final touch in the package like being wraped up as a gift. Buckles are wonderful.

Even the elaborate can bring a nice touch.

Wow, this silver bracelet with inlay of abalone shell (if I'm not mistaken)

is quite dazzling! And I'm amazed that it works with a pin buckle and a keeper, just like a leather strap. Very special and great looking stuff! Best, Emmanuel

A crucial component.

All three are pretty, the VC is, to me, still the easy pick - the Maltese cross is unsurpassed as a logo design, and only given a 'rum for its money' by the stylized JLs . Thank you very much for the excellent photographs, cheers, Filip

Interesting

I like the Maltese for style. The LUC I like for the matte finish which minimizes the curb crash you get from your wrist on things.

I would say exactly the same.

But I think the LF is the beast overall as far as wearing experience: it's 16mm, like the LUC (the VC is 18mm) and it has a very fluid design which works very well on the wrist. Best, Emmanuel

I'm sorry, Filip, but I struggle understanding your sentence

"and only given a 'rum for its money' by the stylised JLs": my English isn't good enough, unfortunately ! What is a JL? I would agree that the VC buckle is the most iconic. But the best in terms of wearing experience could be the LF. Both the LUC and the LF are 16mm, whereas the VC is 18mm and I prefer the smaller size on my wrist. Thanks for your enthusiasm. Best, Emmanuel
