Christianch's hands-on review of the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955 offers a fresh perspective on a beloved chronograph. His detailed observations, particularly on the steel Ref. 5000H/000A-B582, provide invaluable insights for collectors considering this iconic timepiece. This article distills community reactions, highlighting why this particular reference continues to captivate enthusiasts.

Today I just received the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache ๐Ÿฎ so I thought I would share my "mini review".

Allright sometimes watches arrive close to each other ๐Ÿ˜… it was not planned but just after my latest Moser I now finally received also this gorgeous Vacheron

The size (38.5) works very well because the cow's horn lugs make it wear a big bigger which I like a lot. I was always fascinated by the Lemania 2310 (of Patek 5070 fame ๐Ÿ˜… but also Breguet, Omega 321 with a different finish etc.)  which is probably one of the best chronograph movevements ever made. Vacheron finish is stunning.

Here we have the Vacheron Caliber 1142 in all its beauty

I was in love with this particular watch since Hodinkee launched the steel version in 2017. I think that somehow thanks to them Vacheron decided to release this steel version Ref.5000H/000A-B582 that is perfect.

The watch weights 62 grams (the gold version is 85, I think the platinum much more) ans is very comfortable. The Serapian strap very comfortable and more casual than the usual alligator straps.

Here a comparison with the H. Moser Endeavour Tourbillon (42mm)

A lot of ๐Ÿ’™for the Corne de Vache ๐Ÿฎ which I know is very popular in this forum (thanks to the various pics posted by owners that inspired me for years).

Thanks for reading/looking at this mini review ๐Ÿ‘ Let me know how do you like it ?๐Ÿ˜…

About the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ref. CornesdeVache1955

The Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955 is a chronograph model that draws inspiration from a specific Vacheron Constantin chronograph reference from the mid-20th century. It is part of the Historiques collection, which reinterprets significant designs from the brand's heritage. This particular model is notable for its distinctive "cow horn" lugs, a design element that gives the watch its name and sets it apart from more conventional chronograph cases.

The case of the Cornes de Vache 1955 is crafted from precious metal, typically rose gold, and features the characteristic sculpted lugs. It houses a manually wound chronograph movement, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The dial layout is a classic bi-compax chronograph configuration, with a tachymeter scale around the periphery. The crystal protecting the dial is sapphire, often with an anti-reflective coating.

This reference appeals to collectors who appreciate vintage-inspired designs and the craftsmanship of traditional watchmaking. Its faithful recreation of a historical Vacheron Constantin chronograph, combined with modern manufacturing standards, makes it a sought-after piece. The Cornes de Vache 1955 is offered in various precious metal iterations, each maintaining the core design elements that define this distinctive model within the Historiques collection.

A second new watch in a short period. I do not want to break in quickly. Enjoy your new Vacheron Constantin. Your Blue H Moser and Cie tourbillon, super clean, lean and historical clever. I like Vacheron Constantin, but as said like your Moser, i like not too busy dials. But plenty top details on your Vacheron Constantin. The cow horn lugs just kickin. It needs the cool strap your H Moser and Cie strapped on. Or try Reindeer straps and walking Ostrich. I found a great custom strap shop named Fin

Congrats, an absolute stunner! Happy for you! Me coming close to a CdV involves an electric fence ๐Ÿ˜ฌโšก Cheers, Alex

Question: How easy is it to read the metal-colored hands against the light colored dial? As I get older this is becoming increasingly important. Thanks and enjoy your new watch!

regarding the strap I am usually firmly stuck with the original ones...somehow I prefer with the one provided with the watch! (love both of them althrough the Vacheron strap is a bit ticker but probably because is new)
