In a world where luxury watches often represent significant investments, the true measure of their impact can sometimes be found in unexpected interactions. @that911fan initiates a fascinating discussion, inviting the WatchProSite community to share their experiences with verbal compliments on their timepieces. This thread explores which watches capture attention, from the iconic Speedmaster Pro to understated Blancpain models, and delves into the intriguing psychology behind who notices and why.

Once with a Reverso. Once with a JLC Master Compressor Chrono (only because it looks so oddly cool). And maybe a few times with a Sub and the same with a Speedy Pro. That's over 30+ years of wearing. But frankly I'm grateful not to have the attention. However, if the attention is from an enthusiast who knows what I'm wearing, then that's fine, and welcome (except attention to Rolex...not sure why, but I could dispense with that entirely). Great BP you have there. Cheers, John
Thanks for sharing that and yeah, I also welcome it when there is a true Watch enthusiast who really wants to talk to you about watches.
In over 30 years of watch collection only twice: a lady at the grocery store register thought that my UN Jungle repeater is a Disney watch and few years ago a gentleman recognized and commented on my UN Aqua perpetual. Other than that no one ever notices my watches.
at my Submariner and I saw him mouth the words "yeah, it's real". I don't go around flashing my watches, I wear them and if someone sees one they see it. Another watch I have that gets commented on is my Bell & Ross pilot's watch.
I used to have an Omega Constellation and another customer at a coffee shop said I like your Omega. We chatted about it for a few minutes afterwards. Of course, salespeople at watch places love every watch you have on but we know that doesn’t really count.
Not so much for the others. But honestly, it is cool when you receive compliments, but I don't care if I don't. I know what I have, and that's the most important. Best, Nicolas
