Mike H presents a captivating collection of vintage pocket watches, arguing for their enduring charm and relevance beyond daily wear. His post highlights the meticulous care he takes, including bespoke protective cases, to preserve these horological treasures. This offers a unique perspective on collecting and enjoying historical timepieces.

Of course not as daily wearer but still not old fashioned I believe.

If the condition is as good as that I simply cannot resist in front of such a beautiful art deco  steel watch.

Did you notice the pouch covering the top of the watch ? Do you know what it is ? Let me tell you : few years ago I decided that all these nice watches were nice in the box but they deserve to see the live with me also so I decided to have bespoke Γ©tuis made for the very exact size of each Watch so that it fits perfectly : should not be too tight otherwise it is very un practical to use, neither too loose otherwise the Watch slips out of the etui in the pocket. With these I can have the chain attached to the belt groove and the Watch is protected in the Pocket without being scratched by the chain smile.
When fitted over the Watch it looks like this

And this is why I can use these watches without being worried of scratching the case...
So each watch has its special etui in a different color wink all bespoke, a very egoistic pleasure maybe
I love this 2 tone Omega dial...

Can you imagine if I would scratch this case in pristine condition, that would be criminal !

But this Patek Philippe ref 600 is not bad either (quite rare in this white and rose gold version)

This one is quite special... ding ding ding, can you hear ?

Let me finish with my favourite : the one that my grandfather received from his grandfather for his first communion in 1865...

Hope you have enjoyed this journey wink
Best,
Mike

Secondly... Very good selection of pocket watches. Naturally, the family heirloom is most precious, but I am intrigued by the repeater... What make is it? Are they signed? Best, Horo

You have some beauties. And I like those bespoke sleeves you had made. Food for thought.

Wonderful pieces. I wonder what is the significance of that inscription on the repeater, perhaps a souvenir? Clearly intending to be anonymous. Very glad to see someone else that occasionally wears their pocket watches in the wild

that as lovely as these pieces are in the photos, they look even better in real life. I was privileged to meet Mike and his wonderful collection in Paris earlier this week and have to say that these pocket watches were a true delight and in many ways outshone the Laurent Ferrier, Voutilainen and Patek 3448 he had with him. Yes, I am crazy And the minute repeater pocket watch is a gem
