Nicolas (amanico) shares an exclusive look at the vintage Omega Speedmaster Alaska Project, captured during his visit to the Omega Museum in 2018. His striking photographs highlight the watch's unique character, particularly its distinctive red thermal shield. This post offers a rare glimpse into a significant piece of Omega's horological history, inviting collectors to appreciate its original design and historical context.

The beast with its red shield.

Monstrous with the shield. What a character!

Best,

Nicolas

Wish they reproduced one just like this... I know there was one but not similar enough in my opinion...

Agree the reedition is quite a nice piece but does not evoke the same feeling... perhaps as it is too similar to other modern speedies whereas the vintage has its own character

I even like the reedition, but off course this takes the cake. To bad you missed out on in, but who knows, Lady Luck might give you a second chance...
