christianch's review of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas 41mm (Ref. 4520V/210A-B128) offers a compelling look at a highly sought-after model, especially for those considering its place alongside other iconic integrated bracelet sports watches. His unique journey, acquiring a 222 first, provides a distinct perspective on the Overseas's appeal. This article synthesizes community insights to highlight the subtle yet significant updates in this latest reference and its practical advantages for collectors.

Hey everyone!

I’m thrilled to share my mini-review of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas 41mm (Ref. 4520V/210A-B128). My journey to this piece has been a little unconventional—I actually picked up the 222 first! But when I had the opportunity to buy this particular Overseas, which remains one of the most coveted models, I couldn’t pass it up.

As always, I’ll let the photos do most of the talking, but here are a few highlights for me. The dial, in particular, stands out—its deep royal blue hue is truly special and can be challenging to capture in photos. It has a unique character, which, in my opinion, distinguishes it from its counterparts from Audemars and Patek. The quick-change strap system adds a lot of versatility, letting it easily transition from casual to dressy.

A quick shoutout to Vacheron for a smart upgrade: they’re now delivering this watch in a sleek leather travel pouch and case, doing away with the oversized boxes and saving space. Finally!

I also had the chance to buy the solid gold Overseas with a green dial, but I ultimately went with this one. Knowing my collection includes the 222, would you have made the same choice?

Looking forward to your thoughts, and enjoy the photos!

Christian

About the Vacheron Constantin Historiques Ref. Historiques222

The Vacheron Constantin Historiques 222 is a re-edition that pays homage to a significant design from the brand's past. This model is part of the Historiques collection, which is dedicated to reinterpreting Vacheron Constantin's heritage pieces. The 222 stands out for its integrated bracelet design and distinctive monobloc-style case construction, reflecting a particular aesthetic prevalent in the 1970s. It represents a faithful recreation of its predecessor, updated with contemporary manufacturing techniques and materials while retaining the original proportions and character. This reference is a key offering within the brand's contemporary catalog that acknowledges its historical design language.

The case of the Historiques 222 is crafted from yellow gold, featuring a fluted bezel and a screw-down case back. It measures 37mm in diameter, a size that aligns closely with the original model and offers a balanced presence on the wrist. The watch is powered by an automatic movement, visible through a sapphire crystal case back, which provides a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The dial is presented in a sunburst golden hue, complementing the warmth of the yellow gold case. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, ensuring clarity and scratch resistance.

This reference appeals to collectors interested in historically significant designs and integrated bracelet sports watches. It offers a distinct alternative within Vacheron Constantin's current offerings, providing a link to the brand's design evolution. The Historiques 222 is produced in a single material variant, emphasizing its direct connection to the original model's aesthetic. Its reintroduction underscores the enduring appeal of its design and its place in the lineage of luxury sports watches.

Also, indubitably, I would have made the same decision vs the gold OS, the 222 does that even better in my opinion . Much enjoyment, cheers, Filip

Have you had the opportunity to compare this 4520V with the previous 4500V? I wonder if the changes make a real difference or not really. Enjoy your new timepiece !
